The hammam is Morocco's signature beauty ritual. With the Traditional Berber Hammam, it comes to you: eucalyptus black soap, a vigorous kessa glove scrub, a rhassoul clay wrap from the Atlas, then a relaxing 20-minute argan oil massage.

The treatment lasts 75 minutes. It takes place in your bathroom or in the private hammam of your riad or villa, and leaves your skin clean, soft and nourished.

How the treatment works

Eucalyptus black soap
Black soap, a traditional paste made with olive oil, is applied to damp skin and left for a few minutes.

Kessa glove scrub
The kessa glove removes dead skin with a vigorous scrub from head to toe.

Rhassoul clay wrap
Rhassoul (or ghassoul), a natural clay from Morocco's Atlas region, is applied to the body then rinsed off to purify and soften the skin.

Argan oil massage (20 min)
After rinsing, a relaxing 20-minute argan oil massage nourishes the skin and gently completes the ritual.

How does a hammam at home work?

You don't need a steam room. The ritual takes place in the private hammam of your riad or villa if it has one, or simply in a bathroom with a shower and hot water for rinsing. The final massage is then done on the massage table.

Berber hammam or royal hammam?

The Berber Hammam is the essential Moroccan ritual, in 75 minutes. The Royal Radiance & Orange Blossom Hammam goes further, in 90 minutes: salt crystal and orange blossom exfoliation, foot filing and an argan face and body mask.

After your hammam

Drink water: heat and scrubbing make you thirsty.
Avoid strong sun right after the scrub: your skin is more sensitive.
Avoid waxing or shaving just before or just after the scrub.

Precautions

No scrubbing on sunburn, irritated skin, flaring eczema or a wound.
If you are pregnant, ask your doctor; if in doubt, choose the pregnancy massage.
Tell us about any allergy (eucalyptus, argan, nuts).
Avoid waxing in the 24 hours before or after the scrub.

Do I need a hammam in my riad to book?

No. A private hammam is a bonus, but a bathroom with a shower and hot water is enough for rinsing. We check the space with you when confirming on WhatsApp.
