Massage table set with argan oil and towels in a Moroccan-style room

Ideal for

  • Your first massage in Morocco and a first taste of argan oil
  • After a long day exploring the souks and the Medina
  • Recovering from a long journey
  • All-over relaxation without deep pressure
  • A shared moment, as a couples massage in your riad or villa

How the treatment works

  1. 1

    Welcome and set-up

Your therapist sets up the massage table in the room of your choice, prepares the oils and towels, and asks about tense areas and the pressure you like.

  2. 2

    Argan oil

Argan oil is applied all over the body: it nourishes the skin and allows long, flowing strokes.

  3. 3

    Gliding pressure and gentle stretches

The massage alternates enveloping strokes, pressure on the back, shoulders and legs, and light stretches to release tension.

  4. 4

    Slow finish

The treatment ends gently. Take a few minutes before getting up and drink a glass of water.

What is a Berber massage?

In Morocco, body care is rooted in the hammam tradition, where scrubbing and oil massage are passed down through generations. The Berber massage draws on these techniques: broad, enveloping movements performed with argan oil, the emblematic oil of southern Morocco.

At Thai Kech it lasts one hour and focuses on relaxation: rather than working deep into a muscle as in a sports massage, it releases the whole body.

Argan oil at the heart of the treatment

Argan oil is pressed from the kernels of the argan tree, which grows in south-western Morocco. Rich in fatty acids and vitamin E, it has long been used to nourish skin and hair.

Allergic to nuts or have reactive skin? Tell us when you book so we can take it into account.

Berber massage or Thai massage?

The Berber massage is flowing and enveloping, ideal for unwinding. The Thai massage relies more on targeted pressure and stretches, with hot towels. Not sure? Read our guide Berber or Thai massage: which to choose, or ask us on WhatsApp.

Do I need to prepare anything before the therapist arrives?

No. Your therapist brings the table, argan oil and towels. You only need a quiet room with enough space for the table. A shower beforehand is pleasant but not required.
