Therapist massaging a client's back with argan oil

On spa menus across Marrakech, two names keep coming up: Berber massage and Thai massage. One comes from Moroccan tradition, the other from Thailand. Both help you relax, but they feel very different.

Here is how to choose, depending on what you are looking for.

Berber massage in a nutshell

The Berber massage is an argan oil massage made up of gliding pressure, enveloping strokes and gentle stretches. The rhythm is slow and flowing: you come out relaxed, with nourished skin.

  • Feel: gentle and enveloping
  • Oil: argan
  • Duration at Thai Kech: 60 min
  • Price: 450 MAD

Thai massage in a nutshell

Thai massage draws on Nuad Boran: targeted pressure along the muscles and stretches that mobilise the joints. Our Imperial Thai Massage adds hot towels to release tension.

  • Feel: active, with stretches
  • Special touch: hot towels
  • Duration at Thai Kech: 75 min
  • Price: 550 MAD

Which one should you choose?

  • You mainly want to unwind gently: Berber massage.
  • Your back is stiff or your hips feel tight: Thai massage.
  • It's your first massage in Morocco: Berber massage, to discover argan oil.
  • You love stretching and yoga: Thai massage.
  • You've walked a lot or done sport: also consider the sports massage.
  • You're pregnant: neither; choose the pregnancy massage.

What about as a couple?

You don't have to pick the same treatment: with a couples massage, each person books their own. One enjoys the Berber, the other the Thai, at the same time, in the same room if space allows.
